JULIA MARTIN is a location sound recordist and documentary filmmaker based in London.

She records for documentary and narrative projects alike, which have gone on to premiere at CPH:DOX and the San Francisco Film Festival. Past clients include Vogue, Nike, Dolce & Gabbana, and i-D.

She spent four years on staff at the Oscar-nominated Chicago documentary house Kartemquin Films in her early career, assisting with the marketing and distribution campaigns of award-winning social-issue documentary films. In 2022 she graduated with distinction from the University of the Arts London’s Masters in Documentary Film program. She’s currently in post-production on a short documentary she is directing about two altruistic surrogates in the UK. She is also co-directing a feature-length documentary about the cultural impact of the intrauterine device (IUD).
